Swamiji Arrives in U.S. for 2008 World Peace Tour
- Internationally-renowned spiritual leader to tour North America, spreading the message of "inner peace for world peace" and celebrating International Peace Day - New York (PRWEB) August 6, 2008 -- One of the world's foremost proponents of peace and social responsibility, His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, known around the world as Swamiji, will kick-off his 2008 World Peace Tour in New York City on August 11, 2008. The central messages of Swamiji's humanitarian mission are "inner peace for world peace" and "peace starts with you."
Through personal awakening via yoga, meditation and healthy living, we can better understand ourselves and others, improving social relationships in a greater context and contributing to a balanced, conflict-free society. During the world tour, Swamiji will speak to the general public, as well as influential government leaders and socially-active public figures and celebrities, about how to attain personal and worldwide peace through a modern and realistic approach to yoga. Swamiji has compiled his teachings into a readily-accessible practice - "Yoga in Daily Life - The System" - which is published in 11 languages and taught in thousands of locations across 30 countries.
The goal of the World Peace Tour is to raise awareness and to foster dialogue between individuals, nations, cultures, and religions on the topics of peace, education, sustainability, ethics, health, youth, and climate change. Swamiji has initiated annual world peace summits and has spoken at the United Nations Millennium World Peace Conference of Religious and Spiritual Leaders, and most recently, addressed the World Peace Summit in New Zealand. Swamiji has been meeting with heads of state for more than 30 years, and has said, "A pathway to peace cannot be forged by political means alone. This will happen only when the religious and spiritual leaders of the world are involved in the process."
The North American tour includes visits to New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Vancouver. Major highlights will be visits to the United Nations and participation in events connected to International Peace week, September 20 - September 30, 2008.
Swamiji is available for interviews and select personal appearances at each stop on the 2008 World Peace Tour. The 2008 World Peace Tour North America schedule is as follows:
