Dr. Lycka and The Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation Give 70K to a Research Fund of the Cross Cancer Clinic

This gift helps to fund a chair in research and will go a long way in fighting melanoma skin cancer.

Edmonton, Canada (PRWEB) January 31, 2008 -- Dr. Barry Lycka, president of the Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation announced today a 70,000 gift to the Mary Johnston research chair in melanoma research today. This gift helps to fund a chair in research and according to Dr. Lycka, “Will go a long way in fighting the epidemic of melanoma skin cancer we are facing.”

“It’s sad that several hundred people die each year from this disease.”

According to Canadian Statistics, there will be 4500 new melanoma cases and 880 melanoma-related deaths in Canada this year, according to statistics from several cancer agencies. “It is our goal to make the number of those dieing drastically lower” Says Dr. Lycka.
