Life-Saving Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery Now Available At Lower Cost to Heart Disease Patients

Bangkok Hospital has been leading the way in provision of quality, affordable health-care for some time. They are now offering a reduced price package for coronary artery bypass grafts, often needed for heart attack victims.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) September 22, 2008 -- Bangkok Hospital Medical Center has announced a new reduced cost package (http://www.bangkokhospital.com/eng/CABG_Package_A.aspx) available for coronary artery bypass grafts.

Coronary artery bypass grafting is quite a frequent operation in the US, with around 500,000 CABGs (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts) performed in 2000 alone.

This surgery must frequently be performed at short notice, in response to an acute cardiac event such as a myocardial infarction (heart attack).

In this procedure, arteries from elsewhere in a patient's body are grafted onto the coronary arteries, allowing an alternative passage for blood to flow through the heart and be pumped around the body.

This averts blockages and narrowing caused by coronary artery disease (heart disease). Successful grafts usually last around 10-15 years. Following this, the procedure may need to be repeated.

Bangkok Hospital makes this repeat grafting much more affordable with their new coronary artery bypass graft package.

Bangkok Hospital has announced a cut-price package for patients who require coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.

This package includes:

•    Use of the operating room

•    Bed in the Cardiac Care Unit for 2 nights

•    A standard single room for 5 nights, including nursing fee, meals, room rate and room service)

•    Surgery performed by the best surgeons, anesthesiologists and cardiac rehabilitators.

•    Cross-matched blood prepared prior to the operation.

The package is being offered at 480,000 BT, around US$14,400 at current conversion rates. It is available until the end of September, 2008.

The package is expected to be a great boon to overseas patients, who typically must have the surgery at short notice and do not have sufficient notice to save the required funds, which can be up to ten times higher in their home countries.

Bangkok Hospital Medical Center (http://www.bangkokhospital.com/eng/Bangkok_Heart_Hospital.aspx) incorporates the first private heart hospital in Thailand.

It was built on the Bangkok Heart Institute, which was established in 1989.

The team at the Bangkok Heart Hospital includes:

•    Experienced adult and pediatric cardiologists

•    Cardiac surgeons

•    Cardiac anesthesiologists

•    Cardiac rehabiltiaition physicians

•    Radiologists

Working experience for these staff has come from internationally recognized hospitals in countries such as the US, Australia and Japan.

Off-pump surgery is one of the cutting edge technologies in use at the Bangkok Heart Hospital.

In this procedure, a patient's heart can remain beating while being worked on, and the heart-lung life support system is not required.

This greatly reduces risk for heart patients, and creates better post-operative outcomes.

Bangkok Heart Hospital has treated more than 40,000 cardiac outpatients, and has performed more than 1100 cardiac surgeries to date.
