100 Black Men of America, Inc. To Host Community Empowerment Project and Free Health Fair in Orlando, Florida June 14th Healthy Living Town Hall Meeting Features Celebrity Fit Club's Dr. Ian Smith

The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. brings local impact and outreach as part of each annual conference through their Community Empowerment Project (CEP). This year's CEP will be held on Saturday, June 14th from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Jones High School, located at 801 S. Rio Grande Ave, Orlando, Florida 32805. The 22nd Annual Conference, being held from June 11-15, at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort in Orlando, Florida, continues this history with this free community event that focuses on health and wellness, nutrition and health education while delivering health screenings each valued at $900 - $1,000. All CEP activities are free and open to the public.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 14, 2008 -- The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. brings local impact and outreach as part of each annual conference through their Community Empowerment Project (CEP). This year's CEP will be held on Saturday, June 14th from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Jones High School, located at 801 S. Rio Grande Ave, Orlando, Florida 32805. The 22nd Annual Conference, being held from June 11-15, at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort in Orlando, Florida, continues this history with this free community event that focuses on health and wellness, nutrition and health education while delivering health screenings each valued at $900 - $1,000. All CEP activities are free and open to the public.

In addition to health services the 100 will offer healthy lifestyle tips including a celebrity cooking challenge featuring: Tony Battie of the Orlando Magic, Chef Rock Harper, winner of Hell's Kitchen and Guy Rawlings, WESH-TV Sports Anchor. The cooking competition will pit teams against one another in an "Iron Chef" style food challenge. Mentees from the 100 Black Men of America's mentoring program will make up the two men teams.

A Healthy Living Community Town Hall Meeting, moderated by Dr. Ian Smith will allow attendees to participate in discussions on access to healthcare, child wellness, violence prevention, health disparities facing the African-American community and more. Also participating throughout the day will be role models, authors and advocates Dr. George Jenkins, Dr. Rameck Hunt, Dr. Samson Davis, fondly known as The Three Doctors.

"The 100 Black Men of America's Community Empowerment Project continues its legacy of being a living embodiment of the organization's mission. With a focus on delivering world leadership in the areas of mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic development, and a 22 year commitment of depositing socially and economically to the host city of our annual conferences, the men of the 100 look forward to working with the Orlando community this week," said Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Esq., Chairman of the Board for 100 Black Men of America, Inc.

Throughout the week the men of the 100 will be educating and empowering conference attendees with information addressing adult and youth health disparities such as obesity, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, nutrition, physical activity, sickle cell, asthma, depression, prostate cancer, seat belt safety, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

"We encourage everyone to attend the CEP and benefit from the many free health and wellness events. The 100 has a history of delivering health fairs at both our Annual Conferences and through our many chapters. Our health initiatives are guided by the 100's Health and Wellness Committee which includes internationally known doctors and health advocates," stated John Hammond, Chief Executive Officer.
