Habitech Design & Development Works, LLC Awarded Silver Medical Design Excellence Award
Habitech Design & Development Works, in collaboration with TRICOR Systems, designed and engineered an award winning product for Milestone Scientific. This new product technology has provided Milestone to expand their market penetration and sales. Haworth, NJ (PRWEB) June 14, 2008 -- Habitech Design & Development Works, LLC today announced that it received a silver award as a supplier for a 2008 Medical Design Excellence Award winning product. The Milestone Scientific STA™ (Single Tooth Anesthesia) System is a computer-controlled local anesthesia delivery system with embedded technology that senses & communicates real time pressure/resistance at the tip of the needle to enable dentists to precisely locate the periodontal ligament in order to perform an effective single tooth injection. Habitech provided Milestone and its contract manufacturer, TRICOR Systems, Inc., with turnkey design, engineering and manufacturing development of the STA™ System enclosure, user interface and disposable hand piece & anesthetic cartridge holder.
The Medical Design Excellence Awards competition is organized and presented by Canon Communications, LLC (Los Angeles) and is the only awards program that exclusively recognizes contributions and advances in the design of medical products. Entries are evaluated on the basis of their design and engineering features, including innovative use of materials, user-related functions that improve healthcare delivery and change traditional attitudes or practices, features that provide enhanced benefits to the patient, and the ability of the product development team to overcome design and engineering challenges so that the product meets its clinical objectives.
A comprehensive review of entries was performed by an impartial, multidisciplinary panel of third-party jurors with expertise in biomedical engineering, human factors, industrial design, medicine, and diagnostics.
"We are truly honored that our contributions to the STA™ System have been recognized", said Don Lamond, Partner of Habitech. "This caliber of recognition confirms that Habitech's passion for design, focus on the user experience, and process oriented development approach, routinely yields innovative products that provide long term value to our clients and the ultimate end user."
The 2008 Medical Design Excellence Award winners were honored at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference and Exposition on June 4, 2008, at the New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
