(PRWEB) March 9, 2008 -- Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) has established production injection molding operation in its Enfield, CT plant. The new injection molding facility is in a new class 100,000 clean room. The firm has purchased new Boy Injection molding machines specified specifically to process high temperature materials for precision medical molding applications. OPM is also offering extensive part and mold development engineering as part of their services.

OPM currently sells a line of implantable polymers under the brand of OXPEKK®. OXPEKK® is an ultra pure high performance polymer that the firm has been selling on a global basis to medical companies for implantable applications. "It has been clear to us for some time that many of our customers prefer to purchase finished molded implants from us" said Scott DeFelice OPM President. With OPM supplying the finished molded parts, our customers can establish a dedicated medical implant manufacturing supply chain, a simplified regulatory pathway and a highly economical just in time logistics proposition. "A combination of these benefits means that our customers can focus on developing products and technologies and not deploying their energies to managing multiple supply chains." The OPM molding service will be offered on a global basis.

OPM's OXPEKK® products are supported by extensive biocompatibility testing and an FDA masterfile. Thousands of devices using OXPEKK® are currently implanted monthly. OPM has already received its first major customers for molded implantable products made from OXPEKK®. The firm claims that its position to offer both the implantable polymer and the molding fabrication service is unique in the industry.

About OPM
Founded in March 2000, OPM has rapidly become an industry leader in the ultra-high performance thermoplastic polymers market. The firm's versatile OXPEKK® polymers are currently being used in space and defense, medical, semiconductor and industrial markets worldwide.
