"Short Sleeve Days," a national psoriasis education and awareness event sponsored by the nonprofit Psoriasis Cure Now, is coming up on September 12-14, 2008. During Short Sleeve Days, psoriasis patients from coast to coast, and their loved ones, don short sleeves and engage the public about psoriasis. Free registration is still open for the event.

Kensington, MD (PRWEB) August 29, 2008 -- With "Short Sleeve Days" just two weeks away, Psoriasis Cure Now, a nonprofit patient advocacy group, reported today that it is still not too late to obtain the official t-shirt and other materials to participate in its second annual Short Sleeve Days psoriasis awareness and education event on September 12-14, 2008. During Short Sleeve Days, psoriasis patients from coast to coast, and their loved ones, don short sleeves and engage the public about psoriasis. The website for the event is http://www.ShortSleeveDays.org.

"If you ask a lot of psoriasis patients what they dread, one answer would be wearing short sleeves or a sleeveless dress out in public, exposing their psoriasis and enduring the inevitable stares," said Michael Paranzino, president of Psoriasis Cure Now, and himself a psoriasis patient. "Short Sleeve Days is designed to confront that reluctance head on, to face that discomfort in order to educate the public about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis."

Psoriasis Cure Now is hoping to have people from all 50 states participate this year. Many participants wear the official t-shirt during Short Sleeve Days, and all registrants receive educational materials they can distribute to their family, friends and neighbors about this non-contagious, immune system disease. They can also create personal Web pages and send emails within their communities to get people talking about psoriasis.

Short Sleeve Days 2008 is being made possible by its national sponsors, Amgen & Wyeth, Abbott, and Genentech, as well as by contributions from people with psoriasis and their loved ones.

Just last week, Psoriasis Cure Now announced the Grand Prize winners in its 2008 Psoriasis Video Contest. You can watch the winning videos here http://www.psoriasis-cure-now.org/contest.
