Rinse, Wash, and Repeat with New Ecover Ecological Hand Soap

Hand Washing Helps Keep You and the Environment Healthy

Long Beach, CA (Vocus) November 17, 2008 -- It's wintertime, and to help consumers stay happy and healthy this season, Ecover (www.ecover.com) announced today the retail launch of its new Ecover Hand Soap. Ecover Hand Soap (250ml) retails for $6.50; a one-liter refill bottle is also available for an MSRP of $9.50. Both are available at retail in most natural food stores, including Whole Foods, nationwide.

This year, as part of the UN's International Year of Sanitation, hand washing with soap was at the top of agenda, and even garnered the first-ever Global Handwashing Day (http://www.globalhandwashingday.org/) to reinforce healthy hygiene practices and the importance of washing your hands with soap. According to the American Society of Microbiology an estimated 1 out of 5 (http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_body/skin_stuff/handwashing.html) people don't wash their hands after using the restroom. And out of those who do, only a few actually use soap.

"Hand washing is a simple habit that helps us stay healthy but one that maybe isn't practiced as thoroughly as it should be," says Kipling Rutherford of Ecover. "With our new Ecover Hand Soap, we're giving consumers a gentle, naturally refreshing soap that will have them looking forward to the next time they wash their hands."

New Ecover Hand Soap naturally refreshes skin with a gentle lavender scent and Aloe Vera extract. Made from plant-based ingredients it effectively cleanses and has a minimum impact on our environment.

As with all other Ecover products, Ecover Hand Soap quickly and completely biodegrades and is safe for septic tanks and grey watering systems. Ecover bottles and labels leave a lighter carbon footprint and are made of polyethylene; cap of polypropylene. Polyethylene and polypropylene are 100% recyclable and can be recycled together using a low energy process.
