Georgetown University to Offer MyCareTeam™ Diabetes Management Software to Employees & Family Members

Georgetown University, in conjunction with MyCareTeam, Inc., has announced that MyCareTeam's popular diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes, is immediately available to all Georgetown University employees and family members through the university's health and wellness program, GUWellness: Mind, Body, Soul.

Acton, MA (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- Georgetown University, in conjunction with MyCareTeam, Inc., has announced that MyCareTeam's popular diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes, is immediately available to all Georgetown University employees and family members through the university's health and wellness program, GUWellness: Mind, Body, Soul.

Georgetown employees can now use MCT-Diabetes to securely upload blood glucose (sugar) readings from their glucose meter and communicate electronically with their caregivers. MCT-Diabetes, developed in conjunction with Georgetown University Medical Center and recently cleared by the FDA, guides people with diabetes to make the required behavioral and medication changes supported by frequent feedback and input from caregivers.

"We are delighted to be the first university in the country to offer our community the opportunity to improve their diabetes health using the MCT-Diabetes software." said Charles DeSantis, Associate Vice President and Chief Benefits Officer of Georgetown University. "This product is a great fit for GUWellness and connects with our mission of providing our faculty and staff with access to the best tools to improve their health and ultimately reduce overall health costs."

MCT-Diabetes offers a unique and personalized way to share and monitor blood glucose levels, keep track of medications, log blood pressure, track lab results, and build and maintain an exercise log. The product also allows people with diabetes to invite individuals into their health-management support circle, and provides an interactive method for receiving feedback in the form of charts and graphs.

"MCT-Diabetes has been shown in clinical trials to reduce blood glucose and HbA1c levels." said Jim Mingle, CEO of MyCareTeam, Inc. "The Georgetown roll-out of MCT-Diabetes is an innovative example of how health and wellness organizations can use behavior management tools like MCT-Diabetes to improve the overall health of their employees who have diabetes."

MyCareTeam recently announced integration of MCT-Diabetes with Google Health. Google Health allows consumers to enter and maintain their own medical data and electronically send that information to systems, which are connected to Google Health. MyCareTeam's diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes, integrated with Google Health, will allow consumers to securely transfer diabetes related information to and from the Google Health medical data repository. The data can be transferred to any other medical applications that are also integrated with Google Health.

MCT-Diabetes is available to wellness programs, consumers and health professionals directly from MyCareTeam and select distribution channels. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are available. Visit www.mycareteam.com for more information.
