MyCareTeam Releases Significant Enhancements to Glucose Monitoring Software
MyCareTeam, Inc., a leading vendor of Internet-based diabetes management software, has announced the release of the newest version of its flagship diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes. Acton, MA (PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- MyCareTeam, Inc., a leading vendor of Internet-based diabetes management software, has announced the release of the newest version of its flagship diabetes management software, MCT-Diabetes.
In addition to tracking glucose readings, MCT-Diabetes now allows the user to track and store meals in a "Meal Log", build an "Insulin Log" and use "TotalView", a state-of-the-art charting tool. MCT-Diabetes accepts nutrition information from meals consumed (carbohydrates, fats, protein, and fiber) and insulin administered via manual data entry or automatic upload using a LifeScan OneTouch® UltraSmart Glucose Meter. Exercise information stored in the OneTouch UltraSmart Glucose Meter can now also be uploaded to MCT-Diabetes.
The new charting component, TotalView, allows users and medical staff to easily navigate through the data, and visualizes the impact of carbohydrates, insulin, and medication on blood glucose levels. In essence, it is a dashboard to all of the important information needed to control diabetes. It enables the user to easily chart blood glucose readings, medications, meals, exercise and insulin usage giving an overall picture of how each item affects blood glucose readings.
"The addition of the "Meal Log" and "Insulin Log" is great" said Margie Lawlor, MS, CDE Chair, Chapter Support Committee of the AADE and Coordinator of Clinical Pediatric Research & Education at Joslin. "This service now offers the person with diabetes and their health care team the ability to see how all the important aspects of diabetes care impact overall diabetes management. How wonderful that this company understands what is required to manage diabetes. MCT-Diabetes incorporates data from food, medication, and exercise with blood glucose monitoring ensuring secure communications into an easy to use Web application. This is exactly what individuals living with diabetes need. There is nothing on the market today that is as comprehensive as this new release of MCT-Diabetes."
"Our newest version of MCT-Diabetes is really the only complete diabetes management package on the market." said Jim Mingle, CEO of MyCareTeam. "Our users can now upload all of their pertinent diabetes related information, including insulin, carbohydrates, and glucose readings to MCT-Diabetes and share it with their chosen caregivers. What is really exciting is that the process can be totally automated when using a LifeScan OneTouch UltraSmart meter with MCT-Diabetes."
MCT-Diabetes is a tool that allows individuals with diabetes and their care providers to collaborate and monitor glucose levels across the Internet. The product facilitates collaboration, which improves the long-term management of diabetes. The intuitive, easy-to-use service allows users to decide who (care providers, medical staff, family members, and friends) can have access to their data and with whom they communicate. Users who do not wish to share access with care providers can print reports and graphs and take them to appointments for review.
MyCareTeam recently announced integration of MCT-Diabetes with Google Health. Google Health allows users to enter and maintain their own medical data and electronically send that information to systems, which are connected to Google Health. MCT-Diabetes, integrated with
Google Health, allows users to securely transfer diabetes related information to and from the Google Health medical data repository. The data can be transferred to any other medical applications that are also integrated with Google Health.
MCT-Diabetes is available directly from MyCareTeam on a monthly or annual subscription membership basis. Visit the company's website at www.mycareteam.com for more information.
