St. Croix Systems Announces Real-Time Interfaces with ECRI Institute

St. Croix Systems Announces New, Real-Time Interfaces to Improve Patient Safety, Inventory Management and Equipment Recall Tracking.

(PRWEB) October 20, 2008 -- St. Croix Systems is pleased to announce its partnership with ECRI Institute, a nonprofit that develops and recommends best practices for improving patient care, to integrate ECRI's real-time data feeds for equipment nomenclature and safety alerts, including product recalls, into St. Croix's suite of healthcare enterprise asset management software products.

The integration provides hospitals with real-time interfaces between St. Croix's suite of asset management and CMMS software and the following ECRI Institute's products:

--    Universal Medical Device Nomenclature System™ (UMDNS™) and Health Devices International Sourcebase manufacturer codes for easier, faster and more accurate capital equipment inventory control by ensuring consistent device codes, categories, names and manufactures across departments and facilities

--    Alerts Tracker™, a Web-based, automated patient safety system for alert and recall management that offers efficient inventory management and more effective response to alerts and recalls by allowing users to quickly determine whether equipment involved in a hazard or recall alert is in their inventories and providing clinical engineering with the steps required to respond to an alert.

The real-time integration of the products gives St. Croix users the ability to look up ECRI Institute equipment codes from within St. Croix's applications. It also gives them the ability to more effectively respond to hazard and recall alerts through automated notification and work order generation.

"As healthcare organizations continue to increase their focus on enterprise asset management, the need for fully integrated data becomes critical," said Hank Goddard, CEO of St. Croix Systems Corporation. "Standardized nomenclature greatly simplifies asset management -- from the purchase to the disposition of the asset -- and is an important component of a closed-loop lifecycle management solution. We are excited about the benefits that this service will bring to our clients."
