Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care Offers New Payment Plans

Transparency and Payment Caps Key to Aid for Uninsured or Under-Insured Patients

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) January 8, 2009 -- AfterOurs Urgent Care, in partnership with Alegent Health, has announced three new payment options and an up front pricing policy to help patients without insurance or with high deductible plans gain access to necessary medical attention during tough economic times.

"We believe that letting people know what their urgent care visit will cost, before they are treated, is important to helping patients make informed healthcare decisions that won't compromise their credit later," said Chris Rehm, Executive Director of AfterOurs.

AfterOurs' payment plans include a generous discount for paying in full at the time of service; just $150 for an urgent care visit and $50 for each lab, x-ray, or procedure, with a maximum total of $300, regardless of the number of procedures, labs and/or x-rays performed. Another option allows patients to make a minimum payment of $75 at the time of service and receive a bill for the remaining amount later, with a maximum amount of $350. A third payment option permits patients to make three graduated payments using a credit card, over a period of three months, with a maximum amount of $300, and a nominal credit card convenience fee of $15. In all scenarios, visits are capped regardless of the number of procedures, labs, diagnostic tests or x-rays required during their visit.

"Most of us have cringed with fear in anticipation of receiving a bill for an unexpected medical visit. With up front pricing you don't have to wonder if you can afford your visit," said Mr. Rehm, "and you don't have to worry about paying an average of $600 at the emergency room."
