Classes designed to ensure directors of nursing and nursing staff separate myth from reality and learn non-pharmacological techniques to treat behaviors

Shoreview, MN (PRWEB) February 8, 2008 -- Ecumen Consulting Services, a division of aging services provider Ecumen, Minnesota's largest non-profit senior housing company, is holding seminars for Upper Midwest long-term care professionals this March titled "Nursing and Navigating the Psychoactive Maze". The seminar will be conducted at several Minnesota locations and in Eau Claire, Wis.

Long-term care professionals attending the seminars will walk away with a full understanding of the intent of F-329 unnecessary drugs, how to use non-pharmacological techniques for behaviors and the process and goals of gradual dose reduction. They will also be made aware of medication management considerations, how to stay within regulatory compliance and how to identify non-pharmacological techniques used to treat behaviors.

"This seminar is geared for directors of nursing and nursing staff who want to learn the latest information about psychoactive medication management and the alternatives to such medications," says Mary Leber, RN, director of Ecumen Consulting Services and instructor for these courses. "There is a lot of misinformation out there, and this class helps long-term care professionals to separate myths from facts."

The seminars will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the locations listed below. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and continental breakfast is included. Cost for the seminar is $75 per person
