Leading Physicians Explore Ways Technology Can Benefit Their Practices
PracticeIT convenes first Chief Medical Council. Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 27, 2008 -- PracticeIT, a medical technology company focused on serving independent, office-based primary care physicians with simple-to-use-and-implement electronic medical records (EMR) and handheld diagnostic devices, recently announced the formation of a Chief Medical Council. In its inaugural meeting, the Council discussed the challenges with implementing new technologies within their business, as well as ways technology can better benefit their patients. The Council is comprised of leading physicians from internal medicine, family practice, urgent care, obstetrics and college health centers. The Council will meet four times per year to provide professional and clinical expertise to PracticeIT. Members will give insight into their respective clinical markets, discuss the impact of regulatory and legislative issues, and provide feedback on products and services. Most notably, the Council members will also serve as ambassadors within their communities to further the spread of technology solutions like the ones from PracticeIT they helped develop themselves. We have created and recruited the Chief Medical Council to put real action behind those words -- to engage and listen to leading physicians to better serve their practices and their patients," said PracticeIT CEO, Richard Steinle. Each council member will serve a two-year term and have direct access to PracticeIT leadership for input regarding product recommendations, enhanced service to the physician community and approach to the market. The council will convene four times a year to exchange ideas and provide valuable insight to the company. The 2008-09 Chief Medical Council includes the following members:
- Timothy Howard, MD, Gleneagles Family Clinic, representing general and family practice;
- Linda Villarreal, MD, also representing internal medicine and family practice;
- Ronnie Ali, MD, South Mississippi Urgent Care, representing urgent care;
- Tony Rector, DO, Abilene Christian University Student Health Clinic, representing college health care centers; and
- Christina Sebestyen, MD, representing obstetrical and gynecological care.
