Lexi-Comp Partners with the American Academy of Pediatrics in New Point-of-Care Information Solution for Pediatricians

AAP's Pediatric Care Online™ delivers integrated pediatric resources via the Web, PDA, and wireless devices

Hudson, Ohio (PRWEB) October 10, 2008 -- Lexi-Comp, Inc., a recognized provider of pediatric drug information, has partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics to offer Pediatric Care Online™ (http://www.pediatriccareonline.org) subscribers access to Lexi-Comp's Pediatric Lexi-Drugs® content.

AAP, the leading professional organization representing healthcare professionals caring for infants, children, and adolescents, has developed Pediatric Care Online, a new disease reference tool especially for pediatricians and pediatric residents. Using the Pediatric Drug Lookup function, Pediatric Care Online users can access Lexi-Comp's highly-regarded pediatric content, which includes over 750 pediatric-sensitive drug monographs with detailed dosing guidelines for neonates, infants, and children. Other key fields of information include drug interactions, administration, and adverse reactions, as well as extensive investigational and/or off-label use information.

"Lexi-Comp is excited about our relationship with AAP, as we work together to improve medication safety and patient care for children," comments Ryan Smith, Director of Business Partnering and Data Licensing, Lexi-Comp, Inc. "This robust, easy-to-use tool will most certainly play a vital role in the world of pediatric medicine, and we are happy to be a part of it."

Included in Pediatric Care Online are three of AAP's most relied-upon practice resources: the new AAP Textbook of Pediatric Care; content from AAP's Red Book®, and Bright Futures, the organization's comprehensive health supervision guidelines.

The solution integrates reference content with Unbound Medicine's delivery platform, making it available on a personal digital assistant (PDA), a wireless device, or the Web. Designed around the daily clinical needs of pediatric offices, the easy-to-use format enables quick access to this specialized information. In addition, the service offers a broad range of content that can be downloaded to handhelds that do not have Internet access.

Pediatric Care Online can be viewed at the upcoming American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference & Exhibition in Boston, Massachusetts, October 11 - 14. Lexi-Comp will be exhibiting in Booth # 121 and AAP will be located in Booth # 125.
