80% of Americans Sleep on their Sides

Survey of mattress shoppers reveals a majority of people sleep on their sides at night.

Brighton, MI (PRWEB) December 11, 2007 -- US-Mattress.com, the leading on-line mattress retailer for Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Stearns & Foster and Spring Air mattresses surveyed their on-line mattress shoppers to learn about America's sleep preferences.

As Americans fast paced lifestyles only seem to pick up speed, many people struggle to find good restful sleep on a regular basis. Lack of the necessary restorative sleep leads many people to consider a new mattress as part of an improved sleep solution.

US-Mattress.com looked to answer one basic question, how do most people sleep? We'll it turns out 80% of American mattress shoppers responded that they sleep on their sides at night. Surprisingly, only 4% answered that they sleep on their backs. The rest, 16% of respondents, said that they sleep on their stomachs. These answers, while interesting in their own right, are also helpful when choosing a mattress; a harder mattress is usually good for a stomach or back sleeper. Mattresses in the middle are most commonly purchased by individuals that sleep on their sides. Most brands offer good comfort choices for all preferences, but a Sealy mattress is the most popular brand.

Consumers who are concerned about selecting the perfect mattress usually find themselves reassured when using US-Mattress.com's on-line selection tools. Following a 3 step guided process on the site, consumers choose; 1) the size of the mattress, 2) the comfort of the mattress, and 3) the model of the mattress. At each step along the way, they benefit from helpful mattress comparison charts, definitions, and selection guides. Using these proprietary tools, the consumer satisfaction rate with online mattress selection is actually higher than compared to bed selection made in a store.

People who opt to choose their new bed on-line save time and money since on-line prices are cheaper than in local stores or even the large retail chains. In addition, most consumers also receive extra savings by not paying sales taxes. The financial benefits just add to the satisfaction of selecting a new mattress that will provide the restorative sleep most people lack in daily life.
