United Hebrew Geriatric Center (UHGC), a multi-service senior living campus in New Rochelle, NY, today announced that the construction of its new nursing home, the Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion, is 75% complete. Construction of the $56 million state-of-the-art, 143,000-square-foot nursing home also includes renovation of the Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion.

New Rochelle, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2008 -- United Hebrew Geriatric Center (UHGC), a multi-service senior living campus in New Rochelle, NY, today announced that the construction of its new nursing home, the Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion, is 75% complete. Construction of the $56 million state-of-the-art, 143,000-square-foot nursing home also includes renovation of the Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion.

United Hebrew Geriatric Center administration and staff, along with local and area dignitaries, recently celebrated a milestone with a topping off ceremony.

Thus far, exterior windows on the Skalet Pavilion are installed, and sheet rock has been installed in the basement and on the first, second and third floors. Electricity has been installed from the basement through the fourth floor. Plumbing is in place in the entire building, and the mechanical duct work and heating are also complete. The roof is 90% complete, and its HVAC has been installed.

The second floor rooms of the Kramer Pavilion have been renovated, and construction workers are currently renovating the third floor and installing sheet rock on the fourth floor. The dining room is also undergoing renovations.

Perkins-Eastman Architects designed the new home, which Andron Construction Corp. is building. The home will have 176 private rooms with private baths and a dedicated 44-bed short term rehabilitation floor staffed with Burke Rehabilitation Hospital professionals. Many of the rooms will have views of the Long Island Sound. The home will mimic individual neighborhoods and will create a strong sense of community. Once construction is complete, each neighborhood will have its own 800-square-foot activity room with views of the Sound, fully-furnished with an entertainment center. Neighborhood dining areas will also measure about 800-square-feet and will have views of the interior courtyard.

Amenities will include wireless internet access in each room; a resident activity center, fully-equipped with a library and an arts & crafts room; a 2,300-square-foot multi-purpose room and a café; a new receiving area and a beautifully-landscaped courtyard.
