Kristina Ripatti, Injured Police Officer, Keynotes 14th Annual Medical Fitness Association Conference and Recognizes Role of Medical Fitness in Her Recovery

The Medical Fitness Association (MFA) hosts, Kristina Ripatti, an LAPD who was injured in the line of duty and subsequently paralyzed, at the Annual MFA Conference held in December in San Antonio, Texas. Ripatti, gave an inspiring speech about her journey and the importance of the medical fitness industry on her road to recovery.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) January 14, 2009 --The Medical Fitness Association (MFA) was honored to host keynote speaker, Kristina Ripatti, a 10-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department who was injured in the line of duty and subsequently paralyzed, at the Annual MFA Conference held in December in San Antonio, Texas. Ripatti, who is a spokesperson for NuStep, Inc. and relies on their equipment in her training, gave an inspiring speech about her journey and the importance of medical fitness on her road to recovery.

Ripatti also took time to attend the MFA Welcome Reception where she signed posters and met with MFA conference attendees.

The conference drew attendees from all over the United States and from all industry segments who explored topics such as facility certification, disease management, program planning and executive leadership. Participants included the nation's leading fitness center directors and managers, hospital CEOs and administrators, healthcare business and marketing leaders, physicians,, clinicians, exercise physiologists and athletic trainers.

During the conference, MFA released an expanded 2009 edition of the Facility Standards and Guidelines for Medical Fitness Center Facilities in conjunction with Healthy Learning. The new publication features a set of nationally derived parameters that are applicable to the design and operation of a medical fitness center. Included are sample job descriptions; a facility certification checklist; policies and procedures; and industry resources.

The 2009 Annual Conference will be held December 2-5, 2009 in Orlando, Florida.
