Rauland Launches First Wireless Bed Interface at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics

Rauland-Borg's Responder® nurse-call system has successfully implemented a wireless bed interface at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. The system completely eliminates nurse call bed cabling, and has resulted in an 80 percent reduction in bed maintenance calls. Skokie, IL (PRWEB) January 10, 2007 -- Rauland-Borg Corporation, the leader in nurse call communications, launched the first wireless feature bed interface at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, significantly reducing maintenance and improving patient safety. The first of its kind in the industry, the wireless bed interface eliminates the need for a bed cable to be plugged in for activation of nurse call functions on the patient bed. The bed "connects" to the nurse call system through two wireless devices (via radio frequency). With the bed cable eliminated, hospital staff no longer has to plug in the cable when a bed is relocated or moved for cleaning. Staff can simply execute a one-touch system for an instant "link" between the bed and the nurse call system. With simple activation and a reminder tone to ensure activation, reliability of patient-to-staff communications (including bed exit) is increased, furthering patient safety and satisfaction.
