Mitio Provides Bilingual Working Adults Online Program for Medical Interpreting Atlanta, GA (AffinityWire/PRWEB ) April 9, 2007 -- The Medical Interpreting and Translating Institute Online (Mitio), an industry leader in online delivery of medical interpreting and translating education, today announced the launch of it's new scholarship program available to students who are working in facilities with predominantly Hispanic patients. The program consist of three courses that cover the interpreters professional code of ethics, interpreting procedures and protocol, as well as medical terminology, medical procedures, and translating guidelines. These skills are invaluable for the medical interpreter, since they facilitate communication between a patient of Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and a health care provider. Facilities that illegally use children to interpret for their LEP parents are in violation of the OCR guidelines of 2000, which require facilities to provide interpreting services to LEP patients free of charge. Mitio's scholarship program provides training to bilingual individuals at a low cost, thus enabling the facility to be compliant with regulations while avoiding medical liability.
