When comparing the data on compensation over the past year, pulmonary critical care saw a 16 percent drop in average starting compensation. Conversely, emergency medicine shows the largest increase in average starting compensation, raising nearly 13 percent in the past year. An additional trend to watch is the increasing demand for urologists. The specialty jumped from the fifteenth to the seventh most requested search by hospitals over the past year.
