Hospital in Los Angeles Joins 12 other Catholic Healthcare West Hospitals in California that have Automated Staffing and Scheduling with RES-Q Software

Calabasas, Calif. and Chicago (PRWEB) September 17, 2007 -- Today at the Nursing Management Congress, where nurse managers have gathered to consider the most crucial issues facing nursing management, RES-Q® Healthcare Systems announced that California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) has chosen RES-Q® Labor Resource Management to automate staffing and scheduling for 1,200 employees. A 316-bed acute care hospital that has served downtown Los Angeles and its surrounding neighborhoods since 1887, CHMC is part of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), the eighth largest hospital system in the United States and the largest not-for-profit hospital provider in California. Twelve other CHW hospitals in California currently manage staffing and scheduling with the RES-Q system.

"After evaluating four alternative systems for automating staffing and scheduling, we concluded that RES-Q Labor Resource Management is the most comprehensive, flexible and intuitive," said Roland Santos, R.N., M.S.N., assistant chief nursing officer, California Hospital Medical Center. "We are also piloting self-scheduling and will give each department the option of adopting this innovation. Self-scheduling increases job satisfaction by giving nurses more flexibility. It will help us achieve optimum efficiency by enabling everyone in a unit to participate in balancing schedules and ensuring appropriate staffing."

RES-Q Labor Resource Management is a Web-enabled, Windows-based, client/server software application for enterprise-wide employee resource management, staffing and scheduling. It produces clinically coherent and financially sound staffing in efficient schedules. The optional Self-scheduling Module enables employees to log on and view their units' schedules and select their own shifts or propose exchanging shifts with colleagues. The unit manager logs on to the management view in the module to review and approve shift requests and finalize schedules. E-mail messages are then automatically formatted and sent to employees' work and home e-mail addresses with their schedules.

RES-Q Healthcare Systems is demonstrating its resource management and scheduling software solutions at the Nursing Management Congress 2007, September 16-19, 2007, Booth #416, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Chicago, Ill. RES-Q will also exhibit at Managing Today's OR Suite (MTORS), October 3-5, 2007, Booth #600, Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, Calif.
