Good Samaritan Hospital's Deborah Marshall Named a National Finalist as Public Relations Professional of the Year by PR News Magazine

Good Samaritan Hospital's Deborah Marshall named a National Finalist as Public Relations Professional of the Year by PR News Magazine.

(PRWEB) November 21, 2007 -- Deborah Marshall, Director of Public Relations and Community Service at Good Samaritan Hospital, has been named as a finalist for national Public Relations Professional of the Year in the category "Non-Profit/Association" by PR News, the industry's most trusted executive-level publication. One of five finalists from around the country in the category, Marshall was recognized at the PR Professional of the Year Award Luncheon on November 8 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Marshall was nominated for her strong leadership and professionalism in guiding the communication efforts of Good Samaritan Hospital over the past several years. Nowhere was that effort more pronounced than in her direction of the public communication, advocacy and grass roots education effort that resulted in Good Samaritan Hospital winning its battle to bring desperately needed cardiac surgical services to New York's Lower Delaware/Hudson Valley. During that time, Marshall also managed the internal and external communications aspects of several urgent situations at the hospital, including imminent cancellation of several managed care contracts, while instituting proactive media relations protocols that have resulted in the hospital achieving substantial favorable publicity.

"Since coming to Good Samaritan Hospital, Deborah has strategically revamped the hospital's marketing communications to present both a more sophisticated look and consistent messaging geared toward an enhanced image of the hospital," said Michael Schnieders, Executive Vice President at Good Samaritan Hospital. "Deborah's drive, her passion and her professionalism have been seen in every department of our hospital, and in each and every project that she touches. This recognition is well-deserved, and the entire Bon Secours community joins me in congratulating her."

At the award luncheon in Washington, Marshall was recognized with a prestigious crystal award.

Good Samaritan Hospital is part of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, which also includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. Additionally, Bon Secours Charity Health System provides the services of a Certified Home Health Agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs.
