Anakam® Teams With CareSpark to Deliver Two-Factor Authentication

Anakam® today announced that CareSpark has completed the integration of Anakam.TFA(TM) Two-Factor Authentication to provide secure end-user access to the company's collaborative health information network.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 26, 2008 -- Anakam® today announced that CareSpark has completed the integration of Anakam.TFA(TM) Two-Factor Authentication to provide secure end-user access to the company's collaborative health information network.

CareSpark selected Anakam's two-factor authentication to support a recently awarded $2.68 million U. S. Department of Health and Human Services' "NHIN II" Federal grant for participation as one of nine Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) that will conduct trial implementations of a secure health information exchange network. CareSpark expects to go live with initial services early this year. CareSpark's service area includes eighteen hospitals and 1,200 physicians serving over 750,000 residents across Tennessee and Virginia. Fully deployed, the secure network will allow physician offices, hospitals, public health departments, pharmacies, laboratories, and imaging centers to communicate electronically in order to improve patient care and safety and reduce costs.

Anakam® offers a multi-channel two-factor authentication solution that requires no hardware tokens or software downloads, making it easy and affordable to provide secure access to web-based applications over an extremely large user base. "Never before has the ability to cost-effectively address the diverse needs of a large population of users in the healthcare space been possible" said Anakam's Chief Medical Officer, Bill Braithwaite, MD, PhD. "With Anakam.TFA the CareSpark health information network can not only deliver a one-time secure token, but it can do so through devices that the user community already owns and with which they are comfortable". Legacy two-factor authentication solutions utilize costly proprietary hardware or software downloads that negatively impact the ability to successfully deploy secure access to the diverse community of healthcare constituents.

By leveraging the multi-channel authentication capabilities of Anakam.TFA, CareSpark will lead the industry in a Federally compliant* deployment of a mass-scale solution that will reduce healthcare costs while providing a secure structured environment that supports sharing of medical information among providers. Anakam® is a member of a team that includes Wellogic, ActiveHealth Management, Allscripts, CGI Group, Cisco Systems, Dell, GE Healthcare, Intel, Initiate Systems, Misys Healthcare, Quovadx, Oracle and Siemens Medical Solutions. In addition to Anakam.TFA, Anakam® will also implement Anakam.IDP Identity Proofing.

About Anakam®

Anakam® enables strong authentication and identity management at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions, without encumbering your customers, partners and employees with cards, software downloads, tokens, or fobs. The Anakam Identity Suite™ is unique in the industry, providing end-to-end capabilities that allow you to enable secure business to the masses. The suite includes two-factor authentication, remote identity proofing, professional credentialing, and data protection.
