The HealthGrades study examines nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide and identifies key trends in their quality of care. HealthGrades researchers analyzed Medicare discharges from virtually every U.S. hospital between 2004 and 2006. The study compared actual performance to predicted performance for patient outcomes during that time period.
