MediSend International and National Freight Industries (NFI) Partnership Benefits People in Desperate Need Worldwide
NFI assists the humanitarian organization in transporting life-saving medical supplies and equipment domestically for shipment to developing countries in desperate need. Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 9, 2008 -- Two Dallas-based organizations are united to benefit people in dire need of better healthcare conditions in the world's poorest countries. MediSend International, a non-profit humanitarian organization, and National Freight Industries (NFI), a family of companies dedicated to serving the supply chain logistics industry, are partners in the effort to end the needless suffering caused by the lack medical equipment and supplies and the shortage of human resources to maintain and repair life-saving biomedical equipment in developing countries. NFI has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility in a long-standing relationship with MediSend. National Freight trucks have transported donated life-saving medical supplies and equipment and biomedical equipment from US hospitals and suppliers to MediSend's facility where the items are made ready for shipment. Once readied and packed in ocean-going containers, NFI has frequently managed the transportation of the supplies to ports from which the containers are bound for hospitals and clinics in developing countries. NFI has also played a key-role in transporting emergency aid from MediSend to countries suffering disasters such as the devastating 2005 earthquakes in Pakistan. "NFI is a superb example of corporate social responsibility. On many occasions, NFI has enabled MediSend to expedite medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics desperately awaiting their arrival," said Nick Hallack, President and CEO of MediSend International. MediSend's Global Education Center (GEC) operates this country's first BMET Biomedical Equipment Repair Training Program designed specifically to meet the needs and challenges of developing countries. The MediSend biomedical training laboratory, sponsored by ExxonMobil, is one of the largest and best equipped in the region. GEC trainees from developing countries spend six months in an intensive program that returns them to their home countries with the professional skills to maintain and repair essential biomedical equipment.
