Dynamic Learning Online, Inc. and I.D.E.A.S., Inc. Collaborate to Create Courses for Expanding E-Library

New Four-Part Home Modification Series is Now Available to Students.

Oldsmar, FL (PRWEB) August 30, 2008 -- I.D.E.A.S. Inc., (Integrated Designs in Environment for an Aging Society), in collaboration with Dynamic Learning Online, Inc. has launched a four course series to expand Dynamic's e-learning course library. Funded by the National Institute of Health, the series will cover information on home modification for individuals at risk for falls, those with dementia, sensory or motor impairments.

Each course follows a similar format, focusing on conditions that cause limitations or difficulties in performing everyday activities, and the environmental modifications that can be implemented to compensate for deficits. Courses are valuable to individuals who provide home evaluation, design, or construction service for seniors or people with disabilities, as well as for occupational therapists, physical therapists, home health care workers, case managers/social workers, builders, architects and interior designers.

Home Modifications for People with Sensory Impairment, created by Professor Margaret Calkins, Ph.D. and Jennifer Brush, M.A. CCC/SLP, provides comprehensive strategies for individuals to live independently with limited hearing and visual abilities.

Home Modifications for People with Motor Impairment, written by Jon Sanford, M. Arch, and Carrie Bruce, M.A., CCC-SLP, ATP, explores how functional limitations in upper and lower body movement can impact a person's ability to function safely and independently in the home. The course also investigates modifications that can compensate for such limitations.

Home Modifications for People at Risk for Falls, created by Anna Quyen Do Nguyen, OTD, OTR/L and Jon Pynoos, Ph.D., discusses modifications for home safety and for the independence of individuals who are at risk for falls.

Home Modifications for People with Dementia, written by Margaret Calkins, Ph.D. and Jon Sanford, M. Arch, relates to caregivers and people living with dementia and discusses how home modification can enhance safety, promote independence, and ease care-giving.

The four course series is currently available to students on the Dynamic Learning Online, Inc. website. For more information and course outlines please visit: www.dynamic-online.com.

In 1999, Dynamic Learning Online, Inc. was formed to develop time-sensitive, cost-efficient, and comprehensive e-learning continuing education (CEU) courses. Today, the company provides 65 specialized online courses annually to more than 3,000 professionals worldwide. The courses enable physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to earn CEUs and meet licensure and certification requirements without taking time away from family or work. I.D.E.A.S., Inc. was incorporated in 1991 by Margaret P. Calkins, Ph.D., a nationally recognized expert on environments for people with dementia. Its mission is to engage in research, education and consultation on the therapeutic potential of the environment--organizational and social, as well as physical--particularly as it relates to frail and impaired older adults. The company is committed to assisting organizations in the creation of more supportive settings for older people, particularly those with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
