AllMed Publishes 'Cutting Edge' to Help UR & Claims Professionals Keep Pace with Latest Medical Necessity Trends

Medical review guide discusses medical necessity of leading-edge treatments

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) March 15, 2008 -- AllMed Healthcare Management, a national independent review organization (IRO), announced today that it is publishing a medical review guide called the "Cutting Edge." The "Cutting Edge" will focus on providing updates on the medical necessity complex and changing medical treatments used by doctors as the standard-of-care. The free guide is for UR professionals and health care claims professionals who work at health insurance carriers, medical management firms, third-party administrators (TPAs), managed-care organizations, self-insured organizations, HMOs, unions, trusts and reinsurers.

AllMed created the "Cutting Edge" because the pace of change in medically necessary treatment is so rapid that only specialists in a narrow field can keep up with the ever-changing information dealing with what is a medically necessary. "We're hoping that this medical review guide will be a resource that health insurance payers can use to provide their enrollees with the best quality-of-care, by staying more up-to-date about the medical necessity of different treatments," said Andrew Rowe, AllMed's CEO.

AllMed's team of hundreds of physician specialists writes the "Cutting Edge" and each article considers current medical literature. Each edition will carry several in-depth medical articles. The first issue includes articles on penile rehabilitation after radical prostatectomy, multiple myeloma, determining the medical necessity of insulin pumps and shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis.

How to get the "Cutting Edge"
To receive a copy of the "Cutting Edge" medical review guide, and receive future issues, go to http://www.allmedmd.com/peerpoints/cuttingedge/cutting_edge_form.htm and simply fill out the form. AllMed also publishes a free monthly newsletter, "PeerPoints: Informed Decisions for Better Healthcare," that covers how payors deliver healthcare to those who deserve it based on plan language and their medical need.
