Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 29, 2007 -- A new minimally invasive approach to spine surgery, that is revolutionary in its scope, is now available in Houston. A medical journal article featured this MIS approach to spine surgery in the January 2006 issue of Neurosurgical Focus, a publication of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. The article reviews the approach, technique, and instrumentation as an alternative to lumbar interbody fusion. The AxiaLIF approach is described as a combination of a minimally invasive surgery with an anterior approach, providing a technique that minimizes the risk to anterior organs.

"My patients are showing excellent results and are able to walk the same day," says Dr. Siddiqui. "The rehabilitation is the same as for any other spine surgery, but the time is shortened for most patients due to the minimally invasive approach.
