"Communities of Practice" Clinician Resources Now Available at neuroscienceCME.com

Website restructured and new content added; goals are to form a community for sharing practice improvements, to develop and share knowledge and build expertise, and to provide tools and strategies that support future learning

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) January 15, 2009 -- CME Outfitters, LLC, an independent accredited provider of multidisciplinary continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce a new Communities of Practice area for clinician resources at neuroscienceCME.com.

In his book Communities of Practice: Learning, Meaning, Identity, Etienne Wenger defines a Community of Practice as a group of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an ongoing basis. Traditional opportunities for clinicians to engage in sharing have been local medical societies/associations, national or regional conventions, calling trusted colleagues, and/or connecting with medical staff at the local hospital. For many, time constraints have made it difficult to connect at all.

It is a goal of CME Outfitters to establish neuroscienceCME.com as a resource for the neuroscience community and serve as a point of sharing by developing a neuroscienceCME Community of Practice. CME Outfitters is committed to providing a community for sharing practice improvements, to develop and share knowledge and build expertise, and to provide tools and strategies that support future learning for all involved.

Available for download are clinical rating scales and slides that can be used to teach and to share with colleagues as clinicians serve in a mentoring role in their communities. Many other resources are available exclusively at neuroscienceCME.com, including Clinical Knowledge Centers that feature in-depth content in a variety of topics, case-based educational formats such as case vignettes and more robust neuroscienceCME Medical Simulations, clinical abstracts and literature reviews, practice guidelines, as well as links to clinical trials and numerous online resources. As the neuroscienceCME Community of Practice grows, more resources and opportunities for sharing will be added.
