LaBovick & LaBovick, PA Awards Local West Palm Beach Teen a Scholarship in Partnership with Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach

LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A. helps local teen pursue dream of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon, through Scholarship in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach County.

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) March 11, 2008 -- The law firm of LaBovick & LaBovick is pleased to announce that Ms. Vanessa Valdivia is the recipient of the 2008 LaBovick & LaBovick Scholarship, in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach.

Vanessa Valdivia, a senior at Lake Worth High School, is a member of the National Honor Society and hopes to attend Johns Hopkins School of Medicine after graduating from college. As a little girl, Vanessa dreamed of becoming a doctor. The amazing story "Gifted Hands," by pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson of Johns Hopkins Medical Center, inspired Vanessa. After learning about Dr. Carson, Vanessa's new dream was to become a pediatric neurosurgeon. She has worked diligently toward achieving this goal. At Roosevelt Middle School, she was a member of the Medical Sciences Academy--a program that exposed middle school students to the medical profession by allowing them to "shadow" hospital and clinic staff and to participate in high school-level medical classes. In 2005, Vanessa participated in an internship program associated with Temple University School of Medicine. After graduation in May, she will be participating in an eight-week internship at a Pharmaceutical Research Institute Seattle, Wash. In addition to studying medicine, Vanessa wants to minor in Spanish, because she feels our diverse nation needs more bilingual doctors.

Ms. Valdivia is a well-rounded student and embodies the philosophy "Think BIG." She has volunteered on such projects as working with the National Cancer Institute, Relay for Life, and Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT). Additionally, she has been a member of the varsity swim team, junior varsity soccer team and student government. Vanessa also manages to fit a part-time job into her schedule, while still maintaining a 4.4 GPA.

"We are pleased that our scholarship will help Vanessa pursue a college education and her dream of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon. Our firm is committed to helping individuals and partnering with community organizations in an effort to make a difference," said Brian F. LaBovick, Esq., Managing Partner, LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A.

"We commend the Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach for their outstanding efforts in raising scholarship funds to help high school students achieve their goals and realize their dreams," added Hector A. Rivera, Esq., LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A.
