Cappex.com Awards First College Scholarships

Scholarships are yet another way Cappex.com helps students find the right college fit.

Highland Park, Ill. (PRWEB) November 28, 2007 -- For Cappex student Kristin Hwu, a high school senior in Naperville, Ill., her college search is directed by two factors. A potential school must have a strong nursing program and the right environment for her.

"If you're not comfortable (at a college) you're probably not going to succeed there either. You're not going to be able to concentrate. You're not going to be able to study well," she said. "So I think the environment is probably the most important part."

Her views made her a perfect match as the first winner of the Cappex Travel Tour Scholarship.

"At Cappex.com, we are experts in college fit," said Mike Moyer, president of Cappex.com. "These scholarships are just another way Cappex helps each student find the right college fit."

Hwu is one of six high school students from across the country to win the first round of Cappex Scholarships. In all, Cappex is awarding more than $25,000 for higher education.

As a winner of the College Tour Travel Scholarship, Hwu received an airline voucher that will allow her to visit a college campus. She said she plans to use the ticket to make an official visit to Case Western University in Cleveland, or survey the University of Pittsburgh.

"Fit is the most important thing for students to find in their college search. Setting foot on a college's campus is the best way to assess it," Moyer said.

Other winners of the Cappex College Tour Travel Scholarship for August, September and October are: Jessica C. of Stockbridge, Ga., Petra T. of Yuba City, Calif., Cyntha V. of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Lauren G. of Elk Grove, Calif.

Cappex is awarding two College Tour Travel Scholarships each month from now through January 2008.

Cappex also awarded three college scholarships based on the future majors of students in October. Sarah M. of Hartford, S.D., won the Computer Science Scholarship. Olivia A. of Puyallup, Wash., won the Nursing Scholarship. Stephanie V. of Deerfield, Ill., won the Psychology Scholarship.
