NexGym Brings the Next Generation in Kids' Fitness to Mall of Georgia in New Year

NFL defensive lineman Antwan Lake is co-owner of youth-focused gym opening January 2009 in Atlanta. International kids' fitness club franchise combines video games and other interactive technology with exercise to offer a fun, positive solution to the health challenges today's kids face, including the growing problem of childhood obesity.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 11, 2008 -- NexGym (www.nexgym.com), the innovative new fitness club for kids aged 3 through 14, announced today that it will open its first location in Georgia in January 2009. The new fitness club for kids and teens will be located in the Atlanta area at the Mall of Georgia, next to Toys R Us.

With child obesity rates at their highest in the U.S., the necessity for children's fitness has never been so great. In Georgia, 43% of third grade children are either overweight or obese, according to a study by the Georgia Department of Human Services. But in an age of computers, video games and sedentary lifestyles, how do you lure kids into the world of healthy exercise?

"NexGym makes it simple," said NexGym Mall of Georgia co-owner Antwan Lake, also an NFL defensive lineman for the New Orleans Saints and a former Atlanta Falcon. "By combining video gaming and virtual reality with healthy activity, kids don't even know they're exercising. They just think they're having fun."

As an NFL player, Lake knows the important role good health and fitness play. He and his partner decided to open the gym because they saw a need in the community to help kids get healthy in a positive environment.

"We hope to create a pattern of activity that will last a lifetime for the children who are part of our gym," said co-owner Tekisha Moore.

NexGym Mall of Georgia will provide the latest, most innovative options for children's fitness, offering interactive classes and programs created for children ages 3-14, and "exergaming," the latest in video game and virtual exercise technology equipment, designed specifically for kids 6-14. The youth-focused gym will also offer circuit training equipment designed for kids, programs for children with special needs, nutritional guidance and birthday parties.

NexGym Mall of Georgia is scheduled to open in January 2009 at 3480 Financial Center Way, Suite 910 in Buford, Georgia. Club hours will be: Monday through Thursday 3:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., Fridays 3:00p.m. - 9:00p.m., Saturdays 10:00a.m. - 9:00p.m. and Sundays 12:00noon - 7:00p.m. Birthday parties are available 7:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. on Fridays, 4:30p.m. - 9:00p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00noon - 7:00p.m. on Sundays 12noon - 7:00p.m. A grand opening celebration is in the works for late February.
