Hollister, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- In a nod to its health conscious customers, Casa de Fruta has added a complete line of sugar-free treats to round out its nut, fruit and candy offerings. With dried fruit and nut products available through its retail store and online web site, Casa de Fruta now offers sugar-free alternatives for customers.

"More and more of our customers have been asking for the same quality and freshness of our signature Casa de Fruta chocolate covered fruit and nut products, but requesting a sugar-free version," said Gene Zanger, managing partner of Casa de Fruta. "Now, customers who either struggle with diabetes or those that just prefer a sugar-free alternative can take advantage of the Casa de Fruta line."

Casa de Fruta has added eight sugar-free products, including bridge mix, chocolate cherries, chocolate macadamia nuts, chocolate raisins, dark chocolate almonds, milk chocolate almonds, mocha almonds and taffy. These sugar free versions complement the company's dried fruit and nut offerings, creating a healthy option for customers. Other healthy products include blueberries, cranberries, almonds, figs, dates and plums.

'Healthy Basket' Provides Gift Giving Flexibility
In addition to single purchase availability, the sugar-free items are now available in a gift basket. Featuring the sugar free products as well as the company's dried fruit and nut selections, Casa de Fruta has created the "Healthy Basket," an ideal gift for those with dietary concerns. Priced from $34.95, the baskets include sugar free chocolates, nuts and dried fruits, sugar-free treats like peanut brittle and taffy, and many other healthy snacks.

Customers can purchase the gift baskets or individual sugar-free products online at http://www.casadefruta.com. In addition to the new sugar-free items, the online store offers fresh and dried fruits, snack and party foods, candy, chocolates, meats and cheeses, wine, nuts, hot sauces, gift baskets and a Gift of the Month Club.

Originally started in 1908 by the Zanger's great, great uncles, Casa de Fruta's fruit stand on Highway 152 became a landmark and popular "pit stop" to many California travelers crossing the Pacheco Pass in Hollister. Casa de Fruta became known for its fresh and dried fruit and expanded its original 8 by 10 foot fruit stand over the years to include a gift shop, wine store, motel, restaurant, children's zoo and train in its orchard resort. In 1990, Casa de Fruta expanded its operation to include a retail store in the Westfield Shopping Center. Today, the company employs 200 people and processes more than 250,000 pounds of dried fruits and nuts annually.
