The Princess and the PMS Makes the Bestsellers List

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2007 -- Water coolers in offices nationwide are buzzing about the the funniest book ever published on the topic of Premenstrual Syndrome. During a two-day awareness campaign sponsored by PMS Central, the newly published The Princess and the PMS and The Prince and the PMS climbed on to the Barnes & Noble bestseller list. In addition to its popularity with women and couples seeking monthly guidance, the book is gaining fans among fellow bestselling authors:

"This wonderful book combines humor and wisdom to give women and men alike a powerful tool for creating true understanding between the sexes on the issue of PMS," said John Assaraf, author of Having it All: Achieving Your Life's Goals and Dreams and guest-starring teacher in the hit movie based on the best-selling book by Rhonda Byrne, The Secret. "By demystifying PMS in this fashion, the author team enables productive dialogue to overcome fears of talking about this reality of life."

Who better to understand the complexities and absurdities of a PMS-affected relationship than a couple of life coaches who are married to each other (Elizabeth Goodman and Herb Tanzer), and one self-proclaimed secondhand PMS survivor (Brian Young)? Their combined experiences join to address an issue that affects an estimated 75 percent of menstruating women experience some form of PMS during their reproductive years, according to the National Institutes of Health.

To produce the women's side of their effort, The Princess and the PMS, the authors enlisted a bestselling team of comedy writers and medical, nutritional and alternative medicine specialists (including president of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine and author of Food for Life Neal Barnard, M.D. and Integrative Medicine specialist, psychiatrist and author Hyla Cass, M.D.) to address this pandemic. Their expertise balances the "just-between-us-girlfriends" humor with invaluable medical advice on symptom-reducing diet, exercise, supplements, healthy coping mechanisms, stress reduction, alternative healing strategies, relationship guidance, and much more. Conversely, the men's side, The Prince and the PMS, appeals to shorter attention spans and features cartoons and bottom-line "guydance" on how to love their premenstrual princesses back to health plus some second-hand PMS survival techniques.

"Fostering frank discussion about the realities of PMS through the use of humor is our primary goal," says co-author Elizabeth Goodman. "When women and men can talk more openly about PMS, they're able to apply effective remedies with the support and acceptance of both genders."

The Princess and the PMS / The Prince and the PMS, from Quantum Leaves Publishing, is available at all major book retailers. The book is also available from PMS Central a Web portal for women featuring PMS-related information and coping tools, and from PMS Red Flag a site for men that includes a customizable email PMS Alert System.
