Art Contest Underway for Kids with Kidney Disease

All children in the United States with kidney disease are invited to enter The American Kidney Fund's nationwide art contest.

Rockville, MD (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 19, 2007 -- The American Kidney Fund's popular nationwide art contest is underway--and all children in the United States with kidney disease are invited to enter.

Thirteen winners will have their original artwork published in the American Kidney Fund's 2008 calendar. One winner's drawing will illustrate the cover, and the other 12 will illustrate each month of the calendar. Winners also will receive an all-expense-paid weekend trip to Washington, D.C., where they will meet the other contest winners, tour the city, and be honored in a special awards dinner. The American Kidney Fund covers all travel, lodging and food expenses for each winner and one accompanying parent or guardian.

"We're looking for colorful, creative drawings from kids around the country," said Michael Spigler, Director of Public Education for the American Kidney Fund. "This contest gives children with kidney disease a great opportunity to showcase their artistic talent and to win a free trip to see the Nation's Capital."

The deadline to enter the American Kidney Fund's calendar art contest is Monday, April 30, 2007.

The American Kidney Fund's calendar art contest is open to anyone 18 and under who is living in the United States and who has kidney disease. This includes children on dialysis, children who have had a kidney transplant, and other children who have been diagnosed with a kidney disease.

Drawings may depict any topic or theme and must be purely original; trademarked items (such as characters from comics, television or movies) may not be depicted. Drawings should be bright and colorful, and must be oriented horizontally on white, 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. For complete guidelines and information on how to submit artwork, visit http://www.kidneyfund.org/fpr_2008_calendar.asp.

The American Kidney Fund is our nation's #1 source of financial assistance to kidney patients, and is a leader in providing education to people who are at risk for kidney disease. For more information about the American Kidney Fund, visit www.kidneyfund.org.
