Cary, North Carolina (PRWEB) August 13, 2008 -- Three years ago, Steve Stefano was at a critical juncture in his professional life. Having steadily risen up the corporate ladder at the pharmaceutical giant GSK, he felt a compelling need to write a leadership book which would crystallize in a simple, story-telling manner, the importance of leadership values. In other words, leading not simply through the gray matter located inside one's skull, but also through that pump that beats approximately seventy-two times a minute located inside one's chest. So Steve sat down and wrote what he knew best, himself.
The result is a colorful mix of childhood stories and blue-collar hometown memories titled "Passion and Ice" that transcend the typical "self-help/leadership" books by showing that great leaders aren't just born and aren't just made. Rather, great leaders are both born and made by the same people, mentors hometown heroes and blue-collar values that many spend their childhoods trying to escape.
"This book is simply about values in leadership," said Stefano. "Those values which transcend my career at GlaxoSmithKline and extend back to experiences from my childhood, which I show in the book as having had a significant impact on my leadership beliefs today."
Steve's advice to others looking to develop leadership skills? Read this little book. And then remember that "integrity, courage, empathy, passion are the values and behaviors of true leaders."
Phil Martelli, head basketball coach at St. Joseph's University, Steve's alma mater, agreed. "Steve has a passion for doing things the right way. I have been fortunate to call Steve a friend, and he has made me a better leader."
