Monitor Granule Growth in Process with the FBRM® C35

METTLER TOLEDO announces the launch of the FBRM® C35, designed to target granule size in real time.

Columbia, MD (PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- Using probe-based FBRM (Focused Beam Reflectance Measurement) technology the FBRM® C35 enables formulation scientists and engineers (http://www.mt.com/mt/products/products/FBRM-C35-in-process-particle-characterization_Product-Product_1219948248324.jsp?crel=US_AC_eAdvPRWebC35_20081001) to quickly associate particle system dynamics to processing conditions while with no sampling or sample preparation required. This allows for quick and thorough understanding and optimization of a high shear wet granulation, roller compaction, or fluidized bed granulation process.

With the new FBRM® C35, formulators and engineers can:

- Understand granulation - Monitor real-time changes in particle count and dimension during cohesive wet or dry particle processing and enable Quality by Design (QbD) throughout granulation development, scale-up, and manufacturing;

- Control batch to batch repeatability - Troubleshoot unexpected process changes to minimize batch failures, improve yield, and troubleshoot scale-up or technology transfer;

- Identify batch endpoint - Ensure consistent downstream particle flow, tableting, and dissolution;

- Ensure consistent measurements - A patented scraper keeps the probe window clean allowing the C35 to track particle agglomeration, compaction, and breakage even in the most cohesive particle conditions.

METTLER TOLEDO FBRM® is the world leading Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for in situ particle characterization across the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
