Aerosol Science Laboratories Improves Patient Compliance by Reducing Treatment Time

Aerosol Science Laboratories has changed its proprietary formulas on certain medications, which allow them to aerosolize faster than before. Faster aerosolization translates into shorter treatment time when a patient inhales sinus medication. With shorter treatment times, patients are more likely to begin and complete their course of therapy.

Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2007 -- Aerosol Science Laboratories has recently minimized the treatment time to aerosolize a dose of Mometasone for sinus inhalation from 8 minutes to 3.5 minutes by adjusting its proprietary formulation. This improvement in treatment time is significant considering many physicians are prescribing two medications such as an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory. The patient administers their medications sequentially. For more detail as to how this benefits a patient, following are details of a recent case:

Patient: Female, Age 46
Dx: 473.9 Chronic Sinusitis
Culture: Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

#1 Medication: ASL Tobramycin Inhalation Solution
- This aminoglycoside disrupts protein synthesis in gram-negative
bacteria such as Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.
- Alcohol free
- Ph = 6.1
- Dose 125 mg/2ml
- Tx time = 3.5 minutes per dose

#2 Medication: ASL Mometasone Inhalation Solution
- This corticosteroid reduces tissue inflammation. Mometasone is the
active ingredient found in Nasonex™ safely used by over 6 million people.
- Alcohol Free
- Ph = 4.4
- Dose 0.6 mg/2ml
- Tx time = 3.0 minutes per dose

Administration: The patient inhaled both aerosolized intranasal medications TID for 21 days. Total treatment time per day was less than 20 minutes.

Results: Aerosol Science Laboratories reduced total treatment time by 4.73 hours during the 21-day treatment period. This large reduction in the time necessary for a patient to administer their medications should result in a significant improvement in patient compliance for this type of therapy.

If you would like more information regarding specific treatment times on other individual medications dispensed by ASL or if you have any other questions regarding inhalant sinus therapy, please feel free to contact Aerosol Science Laboratories and ASL Pharmacy at 866-552-7579 or visit our website at ASLRx or Sinus Science.
