Your Next Blockbuster Is Only A Handshake Away At BioNetwork East 2008

Over 200 business development and licensing executives from top pharmaceutical and biotech companies gathered at Naples Grande Resort, Florida from March 17-19 to network with potential industry partners and discuss the future trends in drug discovery.

New York (PRWEB) April 10, 2008 -- Over 200 business development and licensing executives from top pharmaceutical and biotech companies gathered at Naples Grande Resort, Florida from March 17-19 to network with potential industry partners and discuss the future trends in drug discovery.

The three day conference kicked off with a practical session with Peter Condon, Associate Director of Business Development, Genentech, Bethany Mancilla, Vice President, Business Development of Pharmathene and Dan Passeri, CEO of Curis. The panel explored the innovations within the industry while exploring the theories behind novel discoveries and collaborations and the effect they will have on shaping the future.

Highlights of the conference included the BioNetwork East: Partnering Primers, focused on initiating networking opportunities between companies, and the Therapeutic Area Roundtables, which were divided into Oncology, Metabolic Disease, CNS and Women's Health. These sessions enabled delegates to dig deeper into potential collaborative conversations between companies of matching interests.

Ken Slepicka, CEO, Synthonics Inc. put it best when he said, "As a small company in this industry, you often feel as if you are approaching a very large Emerald City door when trying to present your value proposition to large pharma, you knock and a very small window opens on the door, accepts your proposition, then quickly closes to never be heard from again. We are beginning to see some positive changes like what is happening at BioNetwork East where we were able to meet with the decision makers from large pharma and form relationships we otherwise wouldn't have been able to by going the traditional route."

The next BioNetwork event is BioNetwork 2008, which takes place on October 6-8, 2008 at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, CA. Please visit the website for more information: www.bionetworkus.com
