More Women Combining Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation in Sacramento

The surgeons of The Plastic Surgery Center in Sacramento and Roseville have begun to notice that more women are combining breast lift and breast augmentation procedures in Sacramento - an excellent option for women who are looking for a more complete breast makeover.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) (PRWEB) December 31, 2008 -- Over the past decade, breast lift and breast augmentation have consistently been 2 of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed across the country. Recently, the surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Center have noticed an interesting trend among their Sacramento cosmetic surgery patients: women are showing an increased interest in combining breast lift and breast augmentation procedures for a more complete breast makeover. This will also be a major topic of discussion at their upcoming monthly seminars in the Sacramento area (http://www.sacplasticsurgery.com/news.cfm).

"Breast lift and breast augmentation are two very different procedures that are performed with different goals in mind," says Dr. John Osborn, who is a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing at The Plastic Surgery Center. "However, the benefits of the procedures are complementary, so combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation is often the best way to achieve the complete breast enhancement many women are looking for."

Although a breast lift will eliminate sagging and restore breasts to a more youthful position, many patients notice that the procedure can have a flattening effect, with a loss of volume especially noticeable in the upper part of the breast. One advantage of having both a breast lift and a breast augmentation in Sacramento is that the combination of the procedures tends to produce a more flattering breast shape. Placing implants in the breasts at the same time as the lift will give the breasts a fuller appearance and improve projection. Even women who don't necessarily want larger breasts are opting for implants along with their breast lift because they can help to enhance overall shape and cleavage.

Many women choose cosmetic surgery to correct breast asymmetry. Most young women who have never had children find that breast augmentation is all that's needed to correct a discrepancy in size between their breasts. But women whose breasts have been subjected to the effects of time and pregnancy often notice asymmetry in terms of position and firmness as well as size. "A breast lift and augmentation combination is often the best option for women who have more significant asymmetry problems," says Dr. Scott Green, a board-certified plastic surgeon with the practice.

A major concern for most Sacramento cosmetic surgery patients is the amount of scarring that will result from their procedure. When a breast lift is combined with a breast augmentation, less skin is removed from the breasts in order to accommodate the implants. This may result in less scarring than would result from a breast lift performed on its own. In addition, combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation generally does not result in any more downtime than would result from a single procedure.

"Most women who come to us for consultations about a breast enhancement procedure have really only considered a single procedure - many of our breast lift and breast augmentation patients from Sacramento don't realize that the procedures can be combined," adds Dr. Green. "But many women want a more complete breast makeover than a single procedure can deliver."

Dr. Osborn adds, "Some patients, for example, come in because they are considering a breast lift, but they are also interested in creating more pronounced cleavage, which a lift cannot achieve. After learning about the advantages that combining the procedures can offer, more and more of our patients are choosing to have multiple procedures performed at the same time to maximize their results and enjoy their look for the long term."
