6,000 and Counting: New York City Rhinoplasty Surgeon Marks His Latest Milestone

After over a quarter-century in the field, Dr. Mark A. Erlich, a plastic surgeon at Profiles & Contours in Manhattan, recently performed his 6,000th rhinoplasty procedure.

New York, New York (PRWEB) July 8, 2007 --New York is indeed a city of amazing achievements and dramatic transformations. After having completed over 10,000 surgeries in the last quarter-century, a local plastic surgeon has now performed his 6,000th rhinoplasty, or nose surgery procedure, another remarkable achievement during his distinguished professional career in New York.

Mark A. Erlich, M.D. a doctor specializing in nose surgery at the Manhattan plastic surgery practice he founded, Profiles & Contours, is now in his third decade of practicing cosmetic surgery. If you do the math, Dr. Erlich has averaged about one nose surgery every work day of his private practice career.

"It's an impressive number," said Dr. Erlich. "But I'm not the kind of surgeon who's in it for the big stats or to break any records. I'm much more interested in reflecting on the individual stories, all the patients I've helped over the years, the people whose lives have literally changed for the better because they are so much happier with their appearance."

Having performed thousands of rhinoplasty and other face and body cosmetic procedures as a New York plastic surgeon, Dr. Erlich is a recognized authority in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has lectured widely in the U.S. and Europe, and has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers as well as appearing on radio and television in countries throughout the globe. Dr. Erlich also has served as a consultant to the Malpractice Panel of the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

One of the first physicians to recognize the value of computerized imaging in the cosmetic surgery field, Dr. Erlich helped pioneer its use in facial plastic surgery. With the help of computer imaging, he's able to offer his Manhattan rhinoplasty patients full-color 3-D views of what their recontoured nose may look like. Patients often comment that having Dr. Erlich guide them through the nose surgery decision-making process using computer models is what made them so comfortable with their decision to move forward with surgery.

When asked what motivates him to continue to perform cosmetic procedures, and what keeps attracting nose surgery patients to his Manhattan office, Dr. Erlich has an easy answer. "I do what I love every day," he says, "and I'm grateful for that. I'm happy to provide my patients such great outcomes, and I'm touched that they speak so highly of me to their friends and family. I just love helping people look and feel their best.
If I didn't love what I was doing, I never would have attracted so many patients."

Dr. Mark A. Erlich is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and the founder and director of Profiles & Contours - The New York Center for Plastic Surgery. He is on the medical staff of Mount Sinai Hospital, the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and the Long Island College Hospital. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Erlich is Clinical Assistant Professor at New York Medical College, Clinical Assistant Professor at Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and president of the New York Facial Plastic Surgery Society. Profiles & Contours is a full-service plastic surgery practice founded in 1990 with locations on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and in Norwalk, Connecticut.
