"Yes Pa" - In the Spirit of Christmas - Rochester, NY Entrepreneur Launches A Free National Character Education Program

Fred W. Sarkis Sr., a WWII veteran and a Canandaguia, NY entrepreneur a suburb of Rochester, NY, has launched "Yes Pa," a unique educational platform aimed at middle school students and juvenile prisoners.

(PRWEB) December 23, 2008 -- Fred Sarkis, a WWII veteran and a Canandaguia, NY entrepreneur a suburb of Rochester, NY has launched "Yes Pa," a unique educational platform aimed at middle school (www.YesPa.org) students and juvenile prisoners. Ten years in development, the platform is gaining wide international acceptance after endorsement by regional and national character education specialists.

Mr. Sarkis' unique character educational message, based upon his compelling personal life experiences, hits home with children and adults alike. The total "Yes Pa (http://www.YesPa.org)" program supports key educational values such as maintaining a positive attitude, developing a sense of personal commitment, and overcoming personal "prisons" -- the challenges of every day life.

Sarkis' two books, "Prisoner of the Truck" (a biography), and "Yes Pa" (an abridged textbook version), provide an intimate look into his formative childhood experiences, and demonstrate how a few simple childhood lessons on his immigrant father's "prison" truck enabled him to overcome a lifetime of obstacles. Sarkis adds that it's not just kids that benefit from his educational platform. The lessons of "Yes Pa" appeal to Mentors, Educators, Reformists and any individual seeking to transform their lives through the power of enthusiasm, positive action, the golden rule and personal accountability.

Mr. Sarkis' non-profit "Yes Pa" Foundation offers an interactive web-site (www.YesPa.org), and an on-line educational tool kit (www.YesPa.org) that enables educators to easily download the Yes Pa book, Teacher Resource Guide or Corrections Resource Guide. The Yes Pa book is available in both English and Spanish. This easy to implement program is available at no charge to all educators. A number of schools in the US, Canada and Mexico have made "Yes Pa" a central element of award winning character education curriculums.

The "Yes Pa" program has been evaluated in two independent science-based outcome studies. The research showed significant increases in students (www.YesPa.org) belief that they have control over their future and that positive outcomes are related to their efforts. Hundreds of testimonials by educators and students posted on the "Yes Pa" website support the fact that the program not only improves outcomes, but it touches hearts.

Sarkis emphasizes that the "Yes Pa" program is particularly powerful for 5th & 6th graders because the "Yes Pa" story revolves around Sarkis' own life-changing experiences at that age. Educators attest that students relate to the story, draw parallels to their own lives, and take away fundamental character building lessons.

He is proving to educators that the strength of a viable character education tool kit will enhance any academic curriculum in today's elementary educational environment. He also works with regional corrections agencies and college students to bring this unique message to prison inmates.

In person, Mr. Sarkis' personal presentation style is fun, energetic and inspirational for all ages. He has given talks at regional and national character education seminars. His work is endorsed and recommended by Dr. Tom Lickona, one of the nation's leaders in character education (www.YesPa.org). In 2007, he received the Toastmaster's International and Communications Award for outstanding dedication and contributions in the area of education, human development, and leadership in the Yes Pa Foundation.
