Live Video Streaming of Surgeries from Endoscopes

Global Video Networx in cooperation with Memorial Hospital has successfully broadcast live video of surgeries using video conferencing software for medical education. Medical schools can broadcast live or recorded surgeries to their students or other medical schools globally.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 13, 2008 -- The initial surgery came from Memorial Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Ware. Global Video Networx successfully broadcast a laparoscopic bowel resection for colorectal cancer using desktop computers equipped with SecureNET 2008, a streaming-enabled Video Conferencing software and Windows operating systems. Storz, Olympus and Stryker endoscopes were successfully tested in the initial procedures and provided crystal clear video images of the procedure without disclosing any personal information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

SecureNET user interface made accessing the educational material as simple as a mouse click and allowed surgeons and medical students to participate in the broadcast event via an embedded instant messaging chat module, video and voice over IP. Professors can narrate during the procedure while surgeons do their job. Students can see and hear the professors while watching the live surgery.

Global Video Networx will offer the service to Medical Colleges starting June 1, 2008.
